The Kitchen’s Recipe for “Kick Ass Soup”

biography

Start with a nice base. In this case, a drummer:
Luke Cyca: Drummer/Percussionist extraordinaire from the booming metropolis of Swift Current, SK. Luke’s background is steeped in jazz, having performed throughout his adolescence in several jazz-based ensembles. The man is smooth. Plus, don’t get him started on theory…

Add to this base with some more bass:
Adrien (Earl) Fillion: Man of the tasty bass-tones; homegrown British Columbia (Vancouver/Kelowna) to the core. Earl’s musical history is so complex and intricate one might be moved to start writing a mythology. We’ll leave it at this: Earl hears music in everything and everything hears music in Earl. Not to mention, he’s the dude that knows better than the sound guy…

On top of these rhythms, acoustic melodies are so tasty:
Iisak Andreller: Guitarist of the accoustic persuasion; hailing from small-town Toronto. Iisak learned to play on the guitar that was intended for his sister and thank your stars he did. Thrashing his way through several punk bands as a teen, he added some theory to his angst when his next-door neighbor introduced him to the wonderful world of jazz. Ever have a bad case of the straight-forwards? Bring it to Iisak and he’ll groove it up in a hurry…

Throw in a heaping helping of electric axe:
Andrew Park: Guitarist from the electric kingdom; relocated at an early age to Boston. Andy started as a classically trained pianist while basically still in diapers; won a bunch of competitions. Having conquered that arena, he quickly realized that guitar was his true calling. He rocked several bands as a teen and is still rocking today. Need a hook? Just ask The Captain…

Garnish the dish with some throaty belting:
Joshua Hundert: Stylist of vocalizations; Ontario born, Philadelphia raised. Josh first realized the joys of singing while belting out his favorite songs when nobody else was home. Paying homage to the gods of classic rock, he played a cover-band in high-school. With the pretensions of university came the necessity to pay bills. A three-man accoustic band was formed to do just that. Bet your dirty socks don’t funk like this guy…

Enter The Kitchen:

The band boasts an incredibly diverse background of musical interests that include punk, funk, jazz, ska, glam-rock, and straight-up soul.
